2. Academic Research Project

Nutri-Tsek is developed as part of a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science thesis, software engineering project, and academic research initiative.

The application is intended for:

  • Educational purposes
  • Academic research
  • Software engineering learning and evaluation
  • Demonstration of nutrition-related technologies
  • Testing and validation of software functionality

Nutri-Tsek is currently provided as a non-commercial educational and research project. It is not operated as a food retailer, commercial advisory service, or professional nutrition service.

3. Description of Service

Nutri-Tsek provides food and nutrition-related information based on available product data and user-provided information.

Features may include:

  • Barcode scanning
  • Nutrition information display
  • Nutri-Score assessments
  • NOVA Group classifications
  • Nøglehullet assessments
  • Ingredient information
  • Allergy preference alerts
  • Personalized product evaluations
  • Product comparison
  • Alternative product suggestions
  • Purchase history tracking
  • Calorie tracking
  • Nutrition summary reports
  • Personalized recommendation suggestions

4. User Accounts

Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials.

Users are responsible for the activity that occurs under their account.

5. Age Eligibility

Nutri-Tsek is not available to children under the age of 13. By creating an account or using the application, users confirm that they are at least 13 years old.

6. Acceptable Use

Users agree not to:

  • Use the application for unlawful purposes
  • Attempt unauthorized access to systems or data
  • Interfere with application functionality
  • Upload malicious software or code
  • Abuse, disrupt, or misuse the service
  • Attempt to bypass application security mechanisms

7. Food and Nutrition Information Notice

Nutri-Tsek provides food and nutrition-related information for educational, research, and informational purposes only.

Information presented within the application is generated from available product information, food databases, and algorithm-based assessments.

Nutri-Tsek is not intended to replace advice from qualified professionals such as dietitians, nutritionists, healthcare professionals, or other relevant specialists. Users should use their own judgment when making food, dietary, or nutrition-related decisions.

8. Accuracy of Information

Nutri-Tsek relies on third-party food databases, product information, and user-provided data.

Product information may be incomplete, outdated, unavailable, or inaccurate. Users should verify information directly from product packaging, manufacturers, or official product sources whenever necessary.

9. Limitation of Responsibility

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Nutri-Tsek, its developer, academic supervisors, educational institutions, research collaborators, and contributors shall not be responsible for:

  • Food or dietary choices made by users
  • Product purchasing decisions
  • Allergy-related decisions based only on app information
  • Incomplete or inaccurate product information
  • Data inaccuracies from third-party sources
  • Indirect or consequential losses
  • Decisions made based on application outputs

10. Intellectual Property

Nutri-Tsek, including its source code, design, algorithms, documentation, and content created specifically for the project, remains the intellectual property of the developer unless otherwise stated.

Third-party data, trademarks, product names, and product information remain the property of their respective owners.

11. Third-Party Services and Data Sources

Nutri-Tsek may use third-party services and data sources, including:

  • Open Food Facts
  • Frida, the Danish Food Composition Database from DTU Food Institute
  • Supabase
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Vercel

Frida reference nutrition data may be used to support calorie tracking for foods that are searched or logged through the food database feature.

Availability and accuracy of information provided by third-party services are outside the control of Nutri-Tsek.

12. Suspension and Termination

Nutri-Tsek may suspend or terminate user access if these Terms of Service are violated or if necessary to protect the security, reliability, and integrity of the application.

13. Changes to the Service

Features, functionality, and availability of Nutri-Tsek may be modified, updated, or discontinued as part of ongoing research, development, maintenance, or academic evaluation.

14. Changes to These Terms

These Terms of Service may be updated periodically. Continued use of Nutri-Tsek after updates means that users accept the revised terms.
